Saline County was named for its salt deposits where pioneers on the Santa Fe Trail stocked up before they journeyed southwest. Marshall holds “Santa Fe Trail Days” the second weekend in September each year on the Marshall Square. The two-day festival includes food, music, crafts sales and more. There's plenty to do and see in Marshall and Saline County. We have one of the best rodeos in the midwest. The Annual Missouri Valley College Viking Stampede Rodeo takes place every September with competitors from around the nation.

Marshall is also home to a very unique new air museum - The Nicholas-Beazley Aviation Museum. As home to what once was the largest flight instruction school in the nation, The Nicholas-Beazley Aviation Museum is the perfect place to give children and adults a close up look at how planes work and fly.
