Included within the park are the aquatic center, golf course, disk golf course, shelters, baseball fields, softball fields, volleyball courts, and much more!

2,000 acrea area with upland hunting (deer hunting restricted to archery methods only.) Blind Pony Lake is closed for renovation but area ponds are open. Hatchery tours available by appointment. Open throughout the year. Area closed from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM Admission is free.

Blue Lick Conservation Area
3.5 Miles North of I 70 on Hwy 65, then 1.5 miles West on Saline County Road 318.

365 acre area open to hunting (deer by archery methods only), fishing in the Blackwater River and general wildlife resource enjoyment. Open all year. Area closed from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM except for authorized uses. Admission is free.

Grand Pass Conservation Area

5,211 Acre area for hunting (fall firearms deer and turkey are closed) with waterfowl being the emphasis. Fishing opportunities are the Missouri River, Teteseau Lake. Primitive camping in designated areas. During waterfowl season portions of the area are restricted to hunters with daily hunting permits.

Malta Bend Community Lake
1.25 Miles South of Hwy 65 on Hwy 127

25 acre area with small lake for fishing and nature viewing. No hunting. Open all year, except areas closed from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am except for authorized uses. Admission is free.

Marshall Junction Conservation Area
2 Miles South of the junction of I 70 and Hwy 65, then 3 miles West on Hwy CC and 1mile North on County Road RA.

774 acre area with upland hunting and fishing in the Blackwater River. A shooting range is on the area. Open all year. See area regulations. Admission is free.

Miami Public Fishing Acess
From Marshall, take Hwy 41 North to the town of Miami. At Miami, watch for the cantilever signs.

13 acre area for picnics, primitive camping, and bank fishing with a boat ramp on the Missouri River. No hunting. Open all year for authorized uses. Admission is free.

McAllister Springs Public fishing Access
On the Blackwater River 5 miles East of Sweet Springs on I 70, then 2.25 miles South on Rt. K.

Van Meter State Park

American Indian Cultural Center

From Hwy 65 turn a short distance east on Hwy 240 then north onto Hwy 41. Drive seven miles north on Hwy 41, turn west on to Hwy 122. Highway 122 deadends in the park. The American Indian Cultural Center is the first building in the park. Just past the Cultural Center is the campground with shower house, picnic area with shelters, trails and Lake Wooldridge.
Cultural Center hours:
Winter Hours (off-season) Oct-April, Visitor Center open Thursday thru Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday 1 PM - 5 PM. Visitor Center closed on Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday.
Summer Hours (On-season)
May thru September Visitor Center open Monday thru Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM

Van Meter State Park
Offers many recreational opportunities. Beautiful scenery, hiking trails showcase Earthworks, Mound Field, Vanmeter Cemetery, Lake Wooldridge. American Indian Cultural Center with exhibits about nine resident tribes of Missouri, souvenirs, picnic area, playground.
Open daily 8 AM to sunset
The gate at the base of the lake road closes at sunset from April 1 to October 31.
It is closed from November 1 to March 31.

Basic electric campsites, showerhouse, picnic area, playground, fishing lake, hiking trails, no swimming, no dump station
Overnight camping, everything else 8:00 am to sunset.

Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge

Office is located in Columbia, Missouri, but lands are in Saline County and Lafayette Counties. The Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge is public land open to hunting, fishing and wildlife observation. The refuge is at various locations in the Missouri River floodplain between Kansas City and St. Louis. A couple of the areas are just a short drive from Marshall. Refuge is open 24 hours for Refuge permitted activities.
