October 16, 2008
Present: Stan Moore, Rose Anne Huck, Pam Thomeczek,
Arline Borchers, Ken Yowell, Dale Zank, and Cynthia Crawford
Guests: Kathy Cary, Donna Rothermich, Norma Jeane Ferguson, Kathie Bennett, Mike Ravenscraft
Rose Anne Huck moved and it was seconded to approve the minutes. Motion passed.
Stan Moore called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. He presented a draft of grant applications to date.
Stan welcomed representatives of the quilt guild, Kathie Bennett and Dale Zank. The Quilt Guild has a goal of multi-day activities with the Gee’s Bend quilts in order to maximize the educational/cultural opportunities associated with these important quilts. An added plus of multi-day activities will encourage over night stays. The Quilt Guild has budgeted $2000 of their dollars toward this effort. They are also pursuing grant dollars in addition to Marshall Tourism Commission dollars (via the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee). Kathy Cary reported on the success of the 2008 quilt show. Several indicated overnight stays. They had people from 10 states attend. Attendance was about 500 people.
Chamber President Dale Zank thanked the committee for its work.
The group worked through the list of requests from affiliate groups. Application deadline is October 31.
Meeting adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
